Title: End of Summer Event
Post by: Dan Bishop-Adams on September 05, 2009, 05:45:23 pm
Hi All,

I am planning an end of Summer event, that will probably take place near the end of October.

The event will probably consist of all SAV pilots flying to a designated Summer destination, although it could instead consist of us all flying out of Bristol to our own individual Summer destinations.

Watch this space for full details, but I'd like your thoughts on the matter please...

Regards,

Sounds like a plan Dan.
I think it'd be better if we all flew to the same destination.

Totally in favour, Dan, though I agree with Dave that it would probably be more sociable to fly to the same destination.

Thats what we shall do then! I'll think of a Summer-sun destination with a challenging approach...

Hi All,

I haven't forgotten about this, I've been wrestling with my PC! It keeps bluescreening whilst running FS so I need to try and sort it.

I will be planning this event though, watch this space!

I'm thinking of Corfu LGKR, any thoughts guys? If Runway 35 is in use, the approach is tricky so that could be fun. I think 35 is the tricky one anyway!

Corfu is fine by me as long as we can find scenery and charts. I guess a butcher's hook at Hellenic VACC should turn some up. Wasn't Wychitta a DJ there once upon a time? I should like to visit the shrine and set fire to it.

There is scenery available, & I can easily get charts.

I just need to try and sort out my PC, I'm thinking a stick of my RAM might be dead. I'll need to experiment by removing each stick and flying...

Wasn't it For Your Eyes Only that was filmed in Greece...? :)

Hi Dan.

What aircraft would you allow on the route to Corfu? I'm going to have to sort out my IFR Flying (perhaps with help from Trevor :P) before the date so I can make the journey.

It's a SAV event Callum, do you wish to join SAV? If so, I'll sort you out a membership. The fleet list can be viewed via www.severnair.co.uk. I would suggest A320, A321, B752, B763 as suitable aircraft for the route.

Did I? Oh, ok then haha. Um we don't have an A319 in fleet. I can get you the PSS Airbus if you like and give you the iFDG A320 in SAV Livery with PSS merge?

Bugger! We can't have an event without you Trev! The remaining days thereafter I will be working lates/nights so theres not much I can do! I could reschedule it for 30th or 31st when I'm on nights, because I don't need to leave until about 2210. Would mean an 1800 or 1830 departure though.

Tony just said on TS he wouldnt be able to make the 27th and as it stands I cannot do the 31st.

Flightplan route is: BADIM L9 CPT UL9 KONAN UL607 ELMEM UN606 PUL UZ740 AIOSA UL862 BRD UL995 TIGRA

Obviously if 09 is in use, replace BADIM with WOTAN.

Bloody challenging alright....can't dial in the right vor freq in the lvl d.  Goes from .75 to .90.....oh, deep joy !!!

Dave I think you'll find thats because of how the FMC has been set. If you have an approach set into the FMC or anything, then it will want to automatically tune the VOR. Try changing the frequency via the FMC. But I could be wrong...

AFAIK thats it for me now until January for time away so i will hopefully see you guys around the virtual skies at other times. Guys, just to reiterate; the event departure time will have to be 1830 tonight (if my PC lets me fly) as I need to leave for work at 2210. So, all being well, I will be online for 1800. If I'm not, theres a good chance its because my PC won't let me fly! Therefore feel free to depart a bit later and I will control for your departures.

Going to have to let you all down, Boys. I got outvoted for the date of a family reunion. I am away from home for a few days - back on Monday probably. Sorry and have a good event. I'm really sorry to miss what will be a rare SAV outing.

Superb event.... Shame it was just us 4..  :(.

Anyway.. Umm interesting approach and a controller that sounded like he was speaking with a mouthful of suds and had more bass than one of them young tear away cars.. Other than that it was rather funny on Teamspeak as well with Dan and Dave the comical duo.  ;D

And Tony with his Go Around  ;D ;D oh how I bet that controller was swearing his knackers off.  :P

Cheers Dan, appreciate the effort and time you put in... lets get the next one going ASAP.
